Day 13 - Old Telegraph Track (OTT).

Today was the day we had been preparing our vehicles for. Nerves were abound not only with Russell and Chuck, also with the rest of the Cape York 2018 Crew.

At 8am we made our way to the start of the OTT and took the necessary photos at the signs with all smiling. The question at the time was would we be smiling at the end of the day.

Our first water crossing was Palm Creek. Before we attempted this we let our tyres down, locked in 4WW low range and then Russell was the first to proceed. It was a tentatively slow entry into the creek with passengers unsure if they should have got out and walk. The creek level was low and then it was onto the wet and muddy track out. A little bumpy but otherwise a successful exit from the creek. Chuck followed with a smile after having completed the first creek crossing.

There are over 16 creek crossings along the 4WD section of the OTT. Gunshot Creek is the most notorious of the creek crossing and not for the faint hearted. While we watched vehicles being snatched and winched out of Gunshot. Russell and Chuck managed to drive out under their on steam - even if Chuck managed to alter his driver side step.

The day ended with a swim at Elliot and Twin Falls and Fruit Bat Falls. These falls are not to be missed and a great way to relax after some 4WD.

Our adventure on the OTT finished at Elliot and Twin Falls we had the long trip back to Bramwell Station arriving back at camp at around 7pm.

While we may not have completed the whole OTT - due to time constraints - the experience was fantastic and the vehicles performed exceptionally well with no issues or major repairs required.
