Day 19 - Townsville to Belyandoo Crossing
The morning started with a breakfast on the waterfront in Townsville. A relaxing place to have breakfast and catch up with friends. The Boardwalk in Townsville was fantastic and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the various playgrounds.
After a look around Townsville the Patrol decided not to start and a quick jump start saw it underway. We headed to Charters Towers to catch up with our travelling partners.
We made our way to Belyando Crossing for the night. The campground behind the roadhouse is on a slope, rocky and with the breeze in the right direction presents a guest with a nice odour.

Day 18 - Lakeland to Townsville
Well our luck from the day before had to run out.
After travelling all the way to the tip across dirt roads and tracks, negotiating creeks and rivers it wasn't until we were back on the black top that the first - and only - puncture occurred.
Chuck with his fancy tyre gauges was able to pick up a leaking tyre following running over the remains of a kangaroo. The tyre was changed and our journey continued on to Mareeba for a repair to take place. We then travelled onto Atherton, Malanda, Millaa Milla and towards Innisfail. It was around here that Russell headed to Townsville to catch up with friends. While travelling through South Johnstone the kids were able to see a sugar train carting sugar cane to the mill.
Chuck attempted to get to the highest point in Queensland. Only thing stopping him was the rather long walk from the carpark.

Day 17 - Seisa to Lakeland
Today was an early start to get from Seisa to the Jardine Ferry. Our aim was to make the first ferry crossing for the day and see how far we could go.
We were successful and were the first two vehicles in line for the ferry and made the first ferry, which actually left 10mins before the advertised sign.
As we had already travelled the PDR we were able to make some good time and by the end of the day we had travelled some 753km and arrived at the start of the PDR at Lakeland. It must have been our lucky day as we arrived at the caravan park and managed to get the last two camping spots.
