Day 3 - Clermont to Cairns

Early wake up - 3.30am and on the road by 4.30am to make the final run to Cairns with the aim to arrive before dark.

Chuck's early morning quote was as we leave the caravan park of Clermont - "Look no fog." As we turn in to the main street what are we met with is another morning of fog. Luckily this was not as thick as the previous day and lifted rather quickly.

A short stop two hours in for a quick cuppa and two hours later we arrived at Charters Towers. Following a refuel of vehicles it was on to Townsville and then up to Ingham for a little bit of seafood and a rather generous serving of chips.

After leaving Ingham the rain started and followed us on and off up the coast to Cairns. After a rather long journey we rolled into the Cool Waters Caravan Park around 4.30pm.

Camp set up by the creek and the long wait started for the girls to arrive. Unfortunately their plane at Albury and then Sydney were delayed due to the weather. With luck on their side and on one of the last planes out of Sydney before the curfew they arrived at camp at 1.30am on Saturday morning.

Day 2 - Cunnamulla to Clermont

Another big driving day. Left Cunnamulla at 5.30 am. A very foggy start with visability very poor. Thousands of Roos to dodge, made it a 60km/h trip. A short coffee shop in Wyandra, on run-up, let the fog lift a little, then back on the road.

Up to Augathella, fuel stop, then on to Blackall for lunch.

The goal for the day was to make it to Charters Towers, getting into Clermont at 5.20pm, we decided to call it a day and leave early Friday.

A great feed at the pub then off to bed.

Day 1 - Yarrawonga to Cunnamulla

Finally after months of prep we are finally on the way. Day one was driving, driving and a little more driving.

Starting in Yarrawonga at 5.20am we made our way North. First stop was Goolgowi for a quick Cuppa, then onto Cobar for lunch.

After a lunch and a short walk it was non stop to the Queensland border.

A quick Cuppa and a Geocache then onto Cunnamulla where we stayed in the Tourist Park, had dinner at the white pub, the off to bed.
